Miko is an urban designer with CitySpaces Consulting in Victoria, Canada. Miko holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Victoria in Wellington, NZ, with a focus on quantifying best practice urban design and on the behavioural aspects of sustainability decisions.
Miko’s research looks at quantifying mixed use, density, connectivity, and accessibility in case study
neighbourhoods and compares these measures against individual values and preferences. From this analysis, the relative “walkability” of an environment can start to be established. This research background helps to inform the evidence based planning and design consultation Miko provides.
Evan Peterson
Prior to CitySpaces, Evan conducted research on the relationships between active transportation, built form, and health at the Centre for Research on Inner City Health in Toronto; in the Health & Community Design Lab at UBC; and with CIHR Applied Public Health Chair Jim Dunn at McMaster University. In each location, Evan researched and/or coordinated the development of walkability (or similar) tools for public sector clients. Additionally, he wrote the Health & Built Environment Brief for LEED-ND Canada.
